Borrowing
You must have your library barcode, usually affixed to your school ID, to
check out anything!
|
|
Books
Most
books may be borrowed for three weeks and renewed
unless someone
else has put a reserve on them. You can renew with
your library barcode, either at the library or by
phone. You don't need to bring in the materials (unless
it is at the end of the quarter). Students may have
a total of six items out at one time (a CD with a
book counts as one item). Fines for most overdue materials
are 10 cents per day, to a maximum fine of $10.00.
Lost materials will be billed at replacement costs,
plus a $20.00 replacement fee, plus fines.
|
 |
|
Textbooks
Textbooks,
reference books and reserve materials are for use in the
library only! Occasionally the library has additional circulating
copies. The fine for removing textbooks or reserve materials
from the library is $10.00 per day.
|
 |
Magazines may be checked out for one class period. Fines for
overdue magazines are assessed per hour, and then $1.00 per day.
|
Videos & DVDs
Most videos
and DVDs may be borrowed for a three-day period, two videotapes
at a time. Fines are $1.00 per day to a maximum of $20.00.
Certain videos may be for in-library use only.
|
|
Stock Photography
The library
has a large collection of stock photography books and CDs
which may be borrowed, as well as online access to Corbis Images.
|
|
Audio
The library has a large collection of sound effects and production music on CDs. These may be borrowed for one night.
|
|
Faculty Reserve
Faculty
Reserve materials are for in-library use only, unless other
arrangements have been made with the faculty member.
|
|
Fines
Having fines over $20.00 or start with failing to return materials will have an impact on your ability toreceive your schedule or receive your diploma. For long-standing overdue materials or fines, the library will generate a bill for the replacement of materials plus fines, which will be sent to the Accounting Department.
All materials must be returned at the end of each quarter. To check out materials over the break period, bring a copy of your next quarter's schedule to the library on the day before the end of the quarter, or the morning of the last day of the quarter.
Fines are charged to encourage the timely return and respect for materials which are, in general, very expensive and needed by other students and faculty. Fines remain on a student's record until materials are returned and fines are paid.
|
Theft and Vandalism Policies
It is expected that all students will comport themselves in the Library in the same manner as will be expected in an employment situation. Mutilating or stealing Library materials is in violation of acceptable student conduct and is not permitted. If Library materials are stolen or mutilated, the student will be subject to Art Institute disciplinary action and/or legal prosecution. The student's Dean of Academic Affairs will be notified of all instances of unacceptable student conduct as well as the Dean of Education and the Dean of Student Affairs.
